Montessori-based approach to Dementia Care
Free Workshop

Nightingales Centre for Ageing & Alzheimer’ s and the Bangalore Chapter of Alzheimer’s & Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) are organizing a Workshop for carers of persons with dementia.


Ms. Maxine Swenson, AMI (Dip) will be conducting a Workshop on “Montessori-based approach to Dementia Care” and interacting with the carers.  Maxine Swensson has an Association Montessori International (AMI) 3 to 6 Diploma from Hyderabad, India, and has over 12 years experience in childhood education in the Sydney Montessori School from 1999 onwards. She has traveled to Thailand many times to support Montessori work in the schools of Nakom Pathom and Bangkok.

Maxine has found another Montessori endeavor of high interest. She is now working with the elderly in Sydney in the Training of volunteers to enable them to offer a Montessori approach to residents of community nursing home. The use of the Montessori method in Dementia and Age Care is a  growing movement , in Australia, USA and Austria.
